Love for Lauren

Lauren's Story

In early summer of 2019, Lauren, one of our beloved softball players, began experiencing persistent headaches, vision problems, and nausea. After several attempts to treat her symptoms, doctors performed an MRI which revealed a grapefruit-sized tumor in the left frontal lobe of her brain.

Lauren was quickly admitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where surgery was scheduled to remove the tumor. Tragically, just before the procedure, Lauren suffered a stroke that required emergency surgery. While doctors were able to remove most of the tumor, the stroke caused significant damage to her brain.

Since then, Lauren has endured numerous complications and hospital readmissions. Chemotherapy was postponed so she could focus on rehabilitation and building strength. Her recovery has been slow and difficult, but Lauren continues to show incredible determination. Though she is currently unable to speak, she has become more alert and is responding to commands such as smiling, moving her eyebrows, and squeezing hands.

Lauren's strength, spirit, and love for softball continue to inspire us all.
